Cosi Fan Tutte

by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte

A production of the Jerusalem Opera

2019

At the end of an opera performance, two enthusiastic fans go backstage to congratulate their girlfriends – the two famous divas. On their way, they happen upon the stage director, who immediately senses their innocent and blind devotion and decides to teach them a lesson about love and loyalty.

With the help of the clever dress-lady, they stage another opera, no less turbulent, but this time – in real life.

“How is it possible for one’s heart to change in a single day?”

A contemporary interpretation of this poetic and piercing opera, which turns the spotlight to the backstage of the theatre, where the twisting enigmas behind the scenes of relationships, love and passion, are revealed.

In  “Cosi Fan Tutte”, the characters find themselves faced with everything they thought to be steadfast and true, only to discover that reality is as tenuous and capricious as water, wind and the heart.
